How do I get to Orkney?
Travel to Orkney is either by
ferry from Aberdeen or Scrabster (near Thurso), or by
regular flights from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness. Although Orkney is on the
same latitude as parts of Norway, it enjoys a mild climate
thanks to the Gulf Stream. In the summer months it gets dark
around midnight, with the dawn approaching four hours
later!!
